Robert S. Thompson is president and principal consultant at Sage Financial Design, Inc. a registered investment advisory firm in Simsbury, Connecticut. He also is president of College Funding Strategies, Inc. an educational financing informational services firm.

Mr. Thompson’s legal, insurance, and financial services background combine to provide Sage’s clients with an expertise beyond that of the typical financial advisor. As Sage clients gain good advice on managing their money, they gain knowledge about managing all aspects of their financial affairs. His philosophy is to educate clients so they become smarter about managing their lives and attaining their financial dreams.

A frequent guest speaker for financial and charitable organizations across the country, Mr. Thompson serves on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association, Connecticut Valley. He is a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Group of Connecticut, and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Philanthropic Planners.

A founding member of the National Advisors Trust Holding Company, Mr. Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for the National Advisors Trust Company, FSB.

A nationally recognized expert on the topic of college funding, Mr. Thompson has consulted for states, banks, and corporations on developing successful college funding strategies; he advises financial planners nationwide on the topic. He has been a guest on radio and TV programs and has offered informational seminars to parents and grandparents for over 20 years.

Mr. Thompson holds a B.A. degree in political science and a Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University. He was subsequently associated with the law firm of Hoppe, Day & Ford in Warren, Ohio. Prior to establishing Sage Financial Design, Inc., he was affiliated with Equitable Life Assurance Society. As a registered representative, Mr. Thompson offers securities through AXA Advisors, LLC, a NASD broker-dealer member firm.
